Few and far between and sometimes so bittersweet.

BITTERSWEET

Citizen is one of the few to fall into the tribes to carry Bittersweet, which is brought to you from the guys over at Kicks/Fitted HI/St. Alfred. I loved the line since the first time I set my eyes on it at St. Alfred back in the CHI, which is where I call home. Now I get to rep what I love. Thanks Chris and Ian.Aloha

MI FAM holding it down in the dessert…..wow what a change of scenery.

So as we traveled to LV for Magic to go see whats new in our business. We ran into some dude called Eddie Cruz(note the sarcasm), for those of you that aren’t familiar with Eddie, he is one of the pillars in the streetwear community that has helped bring about us such things as Union NYC, Union LA, Stussy LA, Stussy NYC, Stussy LV, Undftd and various other projects we don’t even know about I bet.

After talking to Eddie for a few minutes he told Caz and I to go check out the Undftd LV store and to talk to Rod. Happenstance that Rod is from our fair state of Michigan.

Intern a Interview with the man that runs Undftd/Stussy LV. So here we go.

Whats up Rod…..

What’s good Jeff!

How is LV? Hope all is well with you and the UNDFTD crew.

It’s wonderful in LV right now! The weather and the women are beautiful.

Where were you born?

I was born and raised on the Westside of Detroit off of Schoolcraft and Evergreen.

What brought you to the LV?

In 2005 I transferred from San Diego to The University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

What Streetwear/skatewear/boardsport/bike sport/musical or artist in nature influenced you as a child growing up in MI?

I always kept a fresh pair of Nikes/Jordans on my feet! I was always participating in some sport as a child. With that said, artists and athletes always influenced or inspired me. A few of my favorite athletes were Steve Rocco, Rodney Mullen, and Tony Hawk of course. When it comes to music growing up I loved listening to artists like Carl Craig, and J.Dilla (R.I.P.).

Do you feel that your MI lifestyle has clashed with the fast pace of LV or do you mostly stay out of that stream and just roam LV at your own pace?

It definitely doesn’t clash. I roam at different speeds, and I’ve always been a fast pace kind of guy! I don’t feel right if I’m not being productive. Living in Vegas gives me the opportunity to anything I feel at anytime.

How did you come about working for Eddie/James?

A great friend of mine, Chris Julian, introduced me to Eddie Cruz and James Bond last year. It was perfect timing because Eddie was looking to fill positions for the new Stussy LV location. Upon sitting and talking with the two of them, it was decided that I would be a better fit at Undefeated. I’m very athletic and that’s what the brand is about, it’s a perfect union!

U of M basketball or UNLV basketball?

I have to go with my boys from UNLV! We’re back to back Mountain West Conference Champs, we made it to the sweet 16 last year, and we earned a #8 seed this year. U of M basketball hasn’t been the same since the Fab 5 days…

#1 most influential style of music while growing up????

Hip-Hop.

Biggest hobby?

Riding my fixed gear at extreme speeds down Las Vegas Blvd.

Phillie Blunts, rolling papers, pipes or no comment?

Just say no!

What brands influence you outside of UNDFTD right now?

Outside of UNDFTD I’m influenced by brands like Supreme, Visvim, Neighborhood. I also run a brand called Sneak Attack with my brother Khadji. It’s important to push the envelope and I feel like all of the brands that I’ve mentioned are doing that.

Do you miss MI?

Not that much! Haha…I make it back there every couple years, that’s enough for me.

Any shout outs?

What’s up to all my family in Detroit! Much love to Citizen, Stussy, Undefeated, Fruition, Neon CC, Sneak Attack, Hypebeast, and House of Commons, Pharmacy Boardshop, New Standard, and 5&A Dime. Peace and blessings to everyone in ’08!

THE RETURN OF THE MONSTER FROM THE BLOG LAGOON

So I have been a little tired from running my many endeavors one of them being the running of the blog, doing all the massive amounts of purchasing for Citizen and babysitting Brett on a daily basic. I became the anti-blogger because it was getting old and tiring to my “very small but still alive somewhere” personal life. None the less after constant bitching from the crew I have been forced out of hibernation early.

So that being said keep a eye out for further posts on hopefully a daily basis.

I think the few things that excite me the most right now are the release of Black Scale Season 3, Rogue Status, Triumvir, Stussy, Alphanumeric and Goodfoot!!!!

Here is a lil taste of whats to come from our boys in Cali and also the Great White North….

Agenda/ASR

As we all know it is tradeshow season once again. I spend most of my time that was alloted for the shows bouncing from plane to plane to get to San Diego. Once there I had a hell of a time bullshitting with old and new faces.

Ever Will Have

Celebs are just like lemmings, they just keep jumping into this ocean we call death

Just look at him tweaking out. It’s kinda sad. He was a great actor. Brett will be so sad because there will be no Brokeback Mountain II.

It ain’t no Van Gogh……BUT

So the guys at Revive were cool enough to invite us over for James Grady’s Art Exhibit properly titled “Teriyaki Tokyo”. Their was some Sushi, Beer, Art, some street and a whole lotta love for James’s art and the lifestyle we MI peeps call streetwear.

Good lookin fam.

JUST REMINDING MYSELF TO BE THE BETTER MAN

JEFF S.

As the Saints come marching in…….

Everytime I go home to the Chi I think these things(and in thise exact order). Fam & Females, Shopping and Wicker Park, I.E. El Rinconcito the best Peruvian food North of Lima(hope my Aunt doest read this) and last but most important when it comes to shopping would be St. Alfred.

St. Alfred has some very close relations with Kick/HI, Fitted/HI, Bittersweet, Leilow Hawaii, In4mation, Stussy Honolulu and all the Hawaiian stores that are killing Streetwear around the world. If you don’t know these lines then you still playing with that wannabe streetwear shit… Hawaiian is about to rule the world!!!!

They have some of the most exclusive lines that can be had in the midwest let alone anywhere in the US. Lines such as HUF, Stussy, Visvim, Bittersweet, Leilow Hawaii, Kicks & Fitted/HI, Fall of Rome, and not to forget there own line thats just plain called St. Alfred.

So I popped in, half in the bag from a night of drinking with my russian friends and said hi to Chane and Bill and copped a STA hat and some kicks cause I just gotta rep home even though the D is now me!

If you are ever in Chicago you just have to check these guys out. By far the coolest dudes in the grind in the CHI. I forcibly make one of my boys that lives up the street go and buy gear for me and mail it back to me when I just can’t find the time to go out to the Chi myself(pretty sad on my part). Also I have no clue wtf Chane is looking at in the last pic.

I had spoke to Mike over PM’s and the phone once or twice and saw the store in pics but really they don’t do it justice.
